Inner Change: Psychedelics

Psychedelics are a class of physical chemical substances derived from the natural world which are psychoactive, meaning that they alter the state of consciousness when being introduced to the central nervous system of a living organism. Although they have been used by various cultures in their spiritual traditions, many of them are illegal to possess in most countries. Nevertheless their recreational, explorative and spiritual use is part of a dedicated growing subculture. Some schools of therapy try to utilize psychedelics to help their patients and more and more academic research including from clinic trials exploring their potential therapeutic value is being published.
